Water Main Improvement

Upcoming Projects Posted on June 20, 2024

With the hot weather and lack of rain in Georgetown Township recently, the water levels in our water tanks have been dropping in the mornings.  On June 19, 2024, Georgetown Township used over 3.8 million gallons of water—3,813,300 gallons to be precise—between 5am - 9am alone.  The increase in usage during these hours is directly related to lawn irrigation.  The water tanks don’t finish refilling until 3am the following morning; only two hours before irrigation demand begins again.
To meet the need for summer demand peaks, Georgetown Township plans to run a larger water main from the City of Wyoming. The cost for the project will be over $19 million and will start in late 2024 or early 2025. Existing water/sewer funds will be used to pay for this needed infrastructure improvement.
